Manager of the Year - Nominations now closed for 2010!
Read about the 2010 winner of the INsite Manager of the Year
Do you know a Village Manager who has been working in that role for more than six months? Are they good at what they do? If so, nominate them for the RVA and INsite magazine Manager of the Year Award.

A winner will be selected from each of the following three categories:
- Managers of villages up to 25 units
- Managers of villages 26 – 100 units
- Managers of villages 100+ units
Each category winner will attend the RVA Conference and be in to win the Manager of the Year Award.
Eligibility
- Nominees must have been working as the Retirement Village Manager in their current village for a minimum of six months; and
- the nominee’s village must have been operating (with residents) for at least six months; and
- the nominee’s village must be a financial and accredited RVA NZ member.
Who can nominate?
Village Managers can be nominated by:
- a village resident (either individually or via a committee); or
- their employer, plus residents; or
- their staff (if any), plus residents; or
- self nomination, plus residents.
Great prizes
Each category winner will receive a free delegate registration to the RVA conference and Dinner.
The winner of the RVA and INsite magazine Manager of the Year award will receive:
- $2,000 cash; and
- a trophy to keep with their name engraved on it; and
- $500 donation to their village’s residents’ Christmas function, or similar; and
- coverage by INsite magazine and Retirement Views for the Manager, the village and the residents.
Judging criteria
A judging panel will review each nominee’s submission with particular regard to:
- Innovation
- Business management
- Communication skills, especially with residents
- Residents’ satisfaction
- Approach to continuous improvement
- Physical management of the facilities, especially the community facilities
- Public relations with the wider community where the village is situated
- Self and staff (where appropriate) personal development
The process
- Nomination Form and the Village Manager’s Submission to be completed sent to the RVA’s office by 9 April 2010 accompanied by one copy of the village information pack.
- A judging panel will select up to three finalists for each category by 23 April 2010.
- A resident survey will be taken at the finalists’ villages – April 2010.
- A visit will be made to the finalists’ villages by judging panellists – May 2010.
- A winner for each category will be announced 28 May 2010.
- Each category winner will give a five-minute presentation at the conference prior to the award being given.
- RVA and INsite Manager of the Year Award presented – June 2010.
